Matt Chaban, a columnist for The New York Times, recently spent the night in the New York City Emergency Housing Prototype designed by Garrison Architects. To date, more than 40 individuals have tested the units. On plans to deploy the prototype at a large scale: "You could need thousands of these things in a matter of weeks," said David Burney, a former commissioner of the Department of Design and Construction who is now a professor at the Pratt Institute.
