Prospect Lake is a small, picturesque body of water at the edge of the Berkshire Mountains in western Massachusetts. Since the mid twentieth century it has been home to the Prospect Lake Campgrounds, a traditional RV park set in the midst of a glorious white pine forest. It is in a sensitive ecological setting that is in need of species diversification, riparian edge restoration, and the general care of the landscape. In this context we are assisting our client, the Alander Group, in its transformation to a landscape hotel set within ecologically restored grounds and served by food, spa, and recreational amenities.

The design of the cabins is distinguished by a wide panorama that serves to bring the long horizon of the lake into view and make it part of the campers’ experience. Cabins are modular, sheathed in cedar and finished inside with europly hickory plywood. They are designed for efficient and cost effective construction.

More cabins

40 cabins have been designed as Park Model Recreation Vehicles that will replace the 140 campsites that were on the site. Utilities, service, and outbuildings are being upgraded and renovated to form a complete and integrated campus. Like our other landscape hotels automobile use is limited to arrival and automobiles are parked in a remote location.
